Money, Fame, Sex and God – The Saving of a Rock and Roll Star

Money, Fame, Sex and God – The Saving of a Rock and Roll Star

Every now and then you come across a man who could have been dead many times over. But despite how hard Peter tried to destroy himself, his God had other ideas. Now, the 'singing cobbler' has many reasons to live. This is the story of modern-day prodigal son, Peter Brocklehurst.

Julia Roberts once said that she didn’t realize that the cost of fame was that it becomes open season on every moment of your life.

Certainly, Peter Brocklehurst was completely unprepared when he suddenly had the best of what the world had to offer.  Blessed with an incredible voice, he rose quickly from pub country singer to a world-famous icon who had money, fame, woman and the company of the rich and powerful as his companions.

I wanted to be a superstar! – Peter Brocklehurst

In this week’s podcast episode, Peter Brocklehurst shares his story from fame chaser to worldwide music star with albums at number one and two at the same time, to a drunk near death, to a man who now lives a simpler life in faith, fixing shoes and encouraging others.

But this isn’t any ordinary story of rags to riches, to rags to a place of contentment story.

The Prodigal Son is Back

This is more a story of a modern-day prodigal son who now is exactly where he was meant to be.

Episode #24 can be streamed right here:

The irony would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.  Peter achieved what he thought would satisfy him, but what he thought would provide him with the freedom to do what he wanted, actually became his jailer.

How about you? are you trapped in some area of your life that that has you locked up tight?

Get Out of Jail

If you have become caught up, or perhaps you are (just a little bit) chasing after the things that this world says will make you happy, then you need to do yourself a favour and listen to Peter.

BTW, Pete’s albums are still available.  You can listen on Spotify or purchase through iTunes and other usual outlets.

I’ve also created a playlist of Peter’s songs on Spotify … here it is (click to open) where you can listen to them for free:
